Mysterious Pathways Volume One

Ethan David Loch

Wallace At Lanark

A Scottish piece inspired by the waterfalls of New Lanark and the tragic story of William Wallace.

The Misunderstood Lion

Follows a common theme in Ethan's music: someone who is judged harshly and incorrectly. This time a lion whose roar gets him in trouble but whose heart is kind and gentle.

Theme to Apollo

Ethan's imagining of an ancient Greek harp melody played in point and counterpoint between a priest and the God Apollo.

Of The Sea

Written standing on a beach in Seahouses, England, half in the water, half out, listening to the waves break and the Kitty Wakes feed their young, imagining life under the water in the deep sea.

Cinnamon Swirl

Written as a gift for Ethan's uncle's 70th birthday. Initially an improvised piece, it has been refined into its own composition.

Wizard Time

A composition based around clocks and the story of a young boy being tested against the clock.

The Haunted Tower

Came from initial ideas in August 2015 but took several years to fully form. These 6 movements represent the repeated refinement of Ethan's ideas through the years. The piece tells the story of a giant, of intimidating size, who is feared by the local humans but is actually friendly. The giant has many adventures: fighting with giant ants; fighting with human villagers (who he tries hard not to hurt); gets himself killed; rises as a ghost; reclaims his body; helps the human villagers destroy the ants; and in the end, sacrifices himself to finally rid the world of the dangerous giant ants.
